Questions we are often asked:

This is a difficult question to answer.  Some people say it hurts while others barely feel a thing and can even sleep through it!  I will say that it is a procedure designed to eradicate hair follicles as such it is often a bit uncomfortable but definitely worth it.

These are two very different methods of "killing" hair.  Electrolysis is the only method of hair removal designated as permanent by the FDA.  Laser is a way to reduce hair growth temporarily in very specific conditions.  Electrolysis uses electricity to permanently destroy the source of the hair.

YES!  Electrolysis works with all skin and all hair regardless of the color of either.  It also works for any area of the body that the hair is accessible.  

Of course.  We treat and service all areas of the body with the exceptions of inside the nose and deep in the ears.  The reason is simply that we cannot get to these two areas.  Other than that if there is hair there we can eliminate it.

This is another difficult question.  There are really two questions here:

For an individual appointment the duration will depend on the amount of hair and the size of the area being treated.  For example, most women's chins can be treated in 15 to 30 minutes while underarms may take an hour each.  

As for the number of visits and time commitment to get an area completely rid of hair that again will vary with the individual however as a rule of thumb a minimum of 6 months is normal while the average is 12 months of fairly regular visits.  In some cases the total time may go a little longer which puts the possibility of 18 months not unheard of..

Currently we are under contract with Kaiser to provide electrolysis services for trans patients.  It is certainly possible to get your insurance to cover your sessions however, this would be on a prepay basis where you pay at the time of service and submit your receipt to insurance,  You will need to inquire with your insurance carrier as to whether they will cover your electrolysis and how they prefer to process payments.

We have been forced to enact a $25 charge for appointments that are missed or canceled with less than 24 hours notice.  These missed appts take up not only the time of the staff but also take time away from other clients.  We hope that everyone understands this unfortunate necessity.
